Highly valued volunteer Leo Tol (75 years old) is saying goodbye at football club Smitshoek. The club expresses gratitude for his dedicated service over the years.
Leo Tol joined the club in 2006, after serving in various roles at DRL. Initially, he was involved in training junior teams and coordinating activities for the youth teams. He also served as a referee for different matches.
In addition to his early roles, Leo later participated in organizing school tournaments and became a coach and coordinator for the girls' teams. His active role in events like the successful girls' camp two years ago highlighted his commitment to the club.
Throughout the challenging times, Leo ensured the safety of all members at the club entrance, demonstrating his commitment to everyone's well-being. His diligence in managing the gate and overseeing match-day operations earned him respect and recognition within the club.
Leo's impact extended beyond the club as he co-founded the Walking Football program for Kijk op Welzijn. Despite stepping down from his club responsibilities, he will continue to support the initiative and enjoy the company of fellow members.
Leo Tol, a distinguished member, received accolades such as becoming a Member of Merit in 2017 and being named Volunteer of the Year in 2023 at the community sports gala. His selfless dedication and unwavering support have left a lasting legacy at VV Smitshoek.
As Leo turns 75, the club acknowledges his decision to step aside and welcomes the next generation of volunteers. While no one currently fills his role at the gate, the club emphasizes collective responsibility for maintaining a safe environment for all.
